19th Century Chess Pieces
A particularly nice set of weighted chess pieces with lovely patina. Made from boxwood and ebonised wood in the Staunton pattern.
When not in use, a quality chess set has an aesthetic which can make a decorative statement for the discerning buyer.
The pieces have some age and use related wear and tear which I have attempted to capture in the images provided. Please note from the images, one white knight has lost its ear and one black knight has part of an ear missing. Further condition details and images can be supplied on request.
The set comes in an old Victorian cigar box which itself is a rather charming item. What appear to be half a dozen woodworm holes on the lid actually go through.
Box size: w. 273 mm x d. 165 mm x h. 100 mm
The King stands at 94 mm ( 3 5/8"). We are happy to provide other piece measurements on request.
The chess board is not included in any sale.
