19th Century Slate Desk

A nice example of the Stephen's 'Improved Slate Desk' estimated to be 19th century in origin.

Patented in 1875 in New York.

A small wooden 'desk top' with inset slates and cards giving examples to copy. Both script and pictorial examples included. Several graphite sticks also included. 

A quirky and interesting piece of social and educational history.
