Painted tin moneyboxes in the style of an Acme safe and Top Hat
Tinplate Moneybox x 2
A novelty painted tinplate moneybox in the style of an Acme safe and another as a Top Hat. Age unknown but estimated to be early 20th century.
The 'safe is painted green with red and gold trim. There has been some paint loss over time which is apparent in the images.
In working order. In theory the door can only be opened with the correct combination (to be supplied to the purchaser). This is achieved by using the dials on the front of the safe. In practice, the lock appears to work regardless, which may be due to it being a little bit loose.
A rare, unusual, collectable, decorative novelty item, probably originating from the US.
Dimensions approx. W 10.5cm H 14cm D 7.8cm
Plus a tinplate 'top hat' moneybox. Some paint loss. Probably of similar age to the 'safe'. In two parts which push together to fit. Dimensions W 9cm (brim) H 5.2cm
