  • An antique wooden ballot box. Probably 19th century and possibly Masonic. An unusual piece of historical interest in very nice condition* and still usable!

    A simple binary 'Yes' or 'No' ballot. Each elector would place a ball inside the ballot box either to the left or right. The internal construction is such that the ball is directed to the chosen side of the drawer below. Note that the drawer is partitioned to receive and hold the 'votes'.

    *A repair has been made to the front of the aperture at approximately '7 o'clock' or SSW. There is a small replacement piece of beading to the top rear (per image). Also, the baize lining of the drawer has been replaced.

    Measured but approximate dimensions:  W 24 cm. D 19 cm. H 30 cm The external diameter of the aperture is 12 cm.
