The Glynn Company was established in 1898 by Albert Field of Halifax. The company was a manufacturer and importer of Essential Oils, Flavouring Essences, Perfumes, etc.; also manufacturer of Vegetable and Aniline Colours of every description. (Graces Guide).
I would estimate the age of the sign to be within a few years of 1898, if not of that date.
The sign has obvious signs of age with some small loss and damage to the enamel letters.
A heavy (4kg +) quality piece, presumably made so to exude a certain company prestige.
Dimensions approx. 18" x 12" (46cm x 30cm). Approx. 3mm bronze plate screwed into a metal frame.
