Antique oak, brass and leather game carrier.
For use in the field to carry bagged (shot) game birds. Whilst still usable, is now perhaps an interesting decorative item.
The brass plates are sprung. The leather strap handle has a wood piece on the underside to assist with carrying.
In good order for its age - probably late 19th or early 20th century. The leather shows some cracking due to age/use wear. I have applied Neatsfoot Oil to soften the leather where worn. Further applications may be helpful if kept in a warm dry atmosphere.
There is a small crack to the wood (as per image) but there is no movement and the framework appears solid.
Approximate dimensions: L 55cm W 9cm D 9cm (with handle in loaded position).
