Antique Miniature Chain Mail
A miniature chain mail tunic. Understood to be late 19th Century but I am unable to provide provenance. Those with the knowledge may be able to date the item from its construction method.
Made from iron or mild steel and very heavy for its size.
No obvious damage but there is a little surface rust in a few areas. The traditional medieval method of rust removal was placing in a barrel of sand. Agitation of the sand or rolling of the barrel created a gentle 'sand blast' effect to remove the rust.
