The "Imp" Shove Ha'penny Slate.
An antique (likely 19th C) slate Shove Ha'penny board in very nice condition. Has evidence of age and use over time with a few light surface scratches and loss of chrome to the metal top bar.
A simple game of skill, originating from the Middle Ages. This particular board was most likely used as part of the 'entertainment' in a Public House from the late 19th or early 20th Century.
Five genuine Half Pennies (1/2d) will be included.
Game rules are available online. Briefly, each of two players take turns to 'shove' the coins, aiming to finish in the area between the lines (known as beds). The score is chalked to the side of each bed. The winner is the first to accumulate three in each bed.
