  • An small antique wooden chest with three drawers advertising Paton's boot and shoe laces.

Paton's was started in 1840 by William Paton. The firm manufactured boot and shoe laces of all kinds from a small factory situated in Johnstone, near Glasgow. The age of the cabinet offered for sale is unknown but estimated to be late 19th or early 20th century.

Likely to have been part of the fixtures and fittings of a cobbler's shop, its bold advertising has both history and charm.

The condition is shown in the images provided. It has obvious damage and wear. In particular, please note the cabinet top. Some remnants of prices are still in evident on the top of the drawer fronts. The drawer handles appear to be original (the same being seen on other examples). The side panels depict an interesting and innovative image of an Indian 'snake' charmer.

We are happy to provide further images and/or a more detailed condition report if required. Please use the contact page on this site.
