Clockwork Tinplate Submarine

A clockwork tinplate "Sea Wolf Atomic Submarine" by Sutcliffe Pressings Ltd.

Sutcliffe's were a well known and respected maker of quality tinplate boats and other toys. The company lasted for 99 years from 1885 until 1984 when it ceased to trade.

The example for sale here is from the last few years of manufacture and is in excellent condition. The main body is painted pressed steel. The red superstructure and missile are plastic with a black rubber bung. There are a few minor scratches to the propeller / rudder area. It comes with its original key and box. The mechanism has been tested and is in working order.

These models are very collectable and perhaps a good investment for the future as well as a pleasurable decorative item for now.
