Large Antique Gin Trap

An antique (early 20th century) gin trap stamped 'Gilpa'.

In nice clean condition with obvious signs of age and wear. Please see images. We are happy to provide further images on request.

Unusually large at approx 40 cm in length (excl chain) and with 15 cm (6") jaws. The tongue and till are brass making this an impressive and attractive display item. Total overall length including the chain approx 90 cm (35").

The trap appears to be in working order but is sold only as a decorative display and interesting piece of social history. Image 2 is included as a humorous but serious reminder that these items were made to kill. A lot of force is needed to 'set' the trap, so it would be impossible to put into an 'active' state unintentionally.
