Large Antique Pestle & Mortar

A large antique Marble Pestle & Mortar.

The Mortar appears to have been carved from a block or Marble. Evidence of tool working is evident on the outside - see penultimate image. The Pestle is marked 12. 

Likely to have been used in a pharmacy or laboratory setting. Offered as an impressive decorative item.

Evidence of age and usage over time but is in very good condition.

Approx. Dimensions: Diameter (max) 34.5 cm  Mortar bowl diameter 20.5 cm. Height of Mortar 15cm.   Pestle length 35.5 cm.

This a very heavy item at 12.75 Kg.
