  • A bag of approximately 2400 ship Ha'pennies minted by the Royal Mint in 1965.

Made from bronze and assumed to have been uncirculated, hence all are in excellent condition. All contained within the original bag accompanied with the lead seal of the Royal Mint, string and blue label which would have accompanied them as security when distributed to the High Street banks.

In all £5 worth of Ha'pennies which would amount to 5 x 480 making 2400 coins (not counted). Total weight 13.7kg including the bag and seal. I have weighed 100 of the coins at 568g making 2400 coins 13.63kg.

For sale as a decorative item, a talking point and/or piece of nostalgia for those who perhaps remember (prior to their withdrawal in 1969), paying a Ha'penny for 2 Blackjacks or 2 Fruit Salads! My memory tells me they became 4 for 1d after the Ha'penny was withdrawn.

The ship is a representation of Sir Francis Drake's ship the Golden Hind.

    Enquiries welcome.
