A leather Naval shell/cordite carrier. Also known as a Clarkson case.

A very attractive decorative piece with patina which only comes with age and use. Possibly WW1 but I have been unable to determine the manufacture date precisely.

The main body bears the UK Royal Coat of Arms, albeit with some losses through age and use. A capital letter 'N' is also apparent, which I believe identifies the item as having been used by the Royal Navy.

Standing at 40 cm tall. The top diameter is 16.5 cm and base diameter 18 cm.

The markings to the base are: No56 IV, which I assume are the manufacturers type/model markings. The manufacturers B.H. & G Ltd (Barrow, Hepburn & Gale?).
