Miniature Scratch Built Mangle
An antique miniature scratch built mangle.
A wooden frame with metal fixtures and handle. Fixed with dovetail joints, screws and nails. Actual age not certain but I would estimate late 19th century. Possibly an apprentice piece or salesman's sample.
The drilled hole to the base suggests it may have been used. It is quite robustly made with a 3/8th inch gauge metal handle and top roller axle. Likewise, the top spring is robust and functional.
Condition as per images. The obviously old splits shown in the final image was fixed with nails from the top. One possible woodworm hole, treated as a precaution.
