From the age of steam, a railway gradient sign.
These signs were important information for steam engine drivers, allowing them to make appropriate adjustments to power, speed and braking systems.
Cast iron numbers/letters on a heavy wooden backing. Recent repainting to front and sides. The cast iron numbers/letters have evidence of overpainting on multiple occasions in the past.
A great decorative item. It will be easy to attach brackets to the wooden backing for hanging or can be left as a stand alone piece.
