  • An unusual oak folding book stand from the early decades of the 20th century.

A patented and registered design by George Waterston & Sons of Edinburgh (1752-2002), the "Refereader" was clearly made as an easily transported utility item for readers. See the final image which I understand is of a advert taken from a 1910 publication.

An extremely rare and quirky item, I suspect this was probably of short-lived production.

In working order and overall good condition. There is one brass rivet washer missing (see image).

The dimensions are approx: Standing: 42.5 cm x 28.5 cm (base rod 51 cm).  Folded: 68 cm x 9 cm x 5 cm.
