Salesman's Sample 1930s Door

SKU: 334
£79.00Price
  • A salesman's sample door in the classic 1930s style. Alternatively it may be an apprentice piece from the same era.

Made from pine and stained to its present colour.

Please note the use of dovetail and, mortise and tenon joints for the frame. The door construction is detailed with extensive chamfering of edges. The door is backed by a piece of ply, having the effect of panelling when viewed from the front.

The door opens on two hinges and closes with a simple ball catch. The door and frame stand on a plinth. There is a drilled hole to the left side of the plinth which suggests it may have been fixed at some point in time (when open, the weight of the door tips the frame forward).

    Dimensions approx.  Height (max) 38.8cm  Door& Frame width 18.3cm.  Plinth  26cm x 8cm.   Door 35cm x 14.8cm

An unusual decorative and interesting piece.
