Sutcliffe tinplate dumper "Trojan"
Sutcliffe Tinplate Dumper "Trojan"
A painted tinplate dumper "Trojan" made by Sutcliffe.
Made with the same quality and attention to detail as the more famous boats, this example of the 'Trojan' is in very good condition and comes with its original box. Although the main construction is of painted pressed steel, the wheels and steering wheel are plastic.
The dumper has a simple tipping mechanism and rear wheel steering via the steering wheel.
There are one or two flecks of paint loss. The box is in fair condition having obvious evidence of age and wear, including a puncture to the box front (see final image).
Still a really nice collectors or decorative piece with its bright orange livery. A piece of British model engineering history. Sadly, having succumbed to the plastic invasion from the far east, Sutcliffe Pressings Ltd closed in 1984 just one year short of its centenary.
Approximate dimensions for the dumper are 21cm x 13cm x 9cm (excl. steering wheel)
Enquiries welcome.
