Victorian Barrister's Wig Tin
A Victorian barrister's wig toleware tin originally belonging to Frederick Pollock Esq're
When researching the name, I have found references to a prominent legal family to which the tin may relate. Potential buyers are advised to research the name and draw their own conclusions.
A typical design for a Victorian barristers wig, the tin has a removable internal fitting on which to hang the wig and a lock to the front. There are obvious signs of age and use with loss of paint and a little surface corrosion.
Although probably contemporary, the padlock has an anchor impression to the lock cover which suggests it is unlikely to have been the original used by Pollock.
The proportions are approx: Height (excl handle) 26 cm, Diameter (front to back) 24 cm, Diameter (side to side) 23 cm (max).
