Vintage enamel advertising sign for Brooke Bond Tea
Vintage Enamel Sign
A vintage enamel sign advertising Brooke Bond Dividend Tea.
Launched in 1935, the 'Dividend Tea' scheme gave a 'Dividend' of 5/- (or 25p in new money) to each claimant once 60 saving stamps had been collected. Each packet of tea had one stamp. At 6d a packet the 5/- dividend amounted to 1d off a packet of tea or about 15%.
Made from enamel laid on a heavy gauge metal there are obvious signs of age and weathering to this sign. This sign probably dates to the late 1930s or early 1940s.
Dimensions approx. 30" x 20" (76cm x 51cm)
