An unusual vintage enamel sign WILLIAM JONES LTD, REGISTERED "DOBBIN", LONDON ENGLAND.
In used and weathered condition with obvious scratches, loss of enamel and rusting as per images provided.
The sign may relate to William Jones Ltd of Upper Thames Street, London which was founded in 1879. It is registered as manufacturing "Dobbin" barrows in the 1960s. (Grace's Guide). Further information is very limited but Greene King Brewery have a Dobbin Barrow as part of their brewery tour at Bury St Edmunds. It appears to be 'purpose built' and used to move sacks of malt. Modern methods have perhaps made the equipment redundant and largely forgotten.
