A group of 9 vintage sandwich etc. labels.
Made from a celluloid material (early plastic) with metal spikes.
I can visualise these labels adorning an impressive buffet lunch laid out on platters sometime in the middle of the 20th century. Probably now considered unhygenic but still a nice piece of nostalgia; survivors from a bygone era which could be displayed imaginatively.
The is evidence of age as one would expect. The white celluloid is now 'off white' and has some slight undulation to its previous flat form. There is a small amount of corrosion to the metal spikes.
The labels measure approx. 10.4 cm x 2.9 cm (5.9 cm incl. spike).
