Vintage Post Office recorded delivery form holder
Vintage Post Office Recorded Delivery Fixture
Vintage Post Office recorded delivery form holder? Made from pressed steel and designed to be wall mounted. The backplate has holes for attaching to the wall. The front section has four metal lugs to the rear which push in and down to secure to the back plate. There are two thin metal plates inside which may have originally been sprung but are currently not so.
Stamped, 'HM. Ltd 1961' and 'F.B.X 63'
Recorded delivery services were introduced in February 1961, so I assume this was manufactured as the service went live. I have been unable to confirm but, I would say that this was a holder for forms to be completed with required sender and delivery details.
Perhaps an interesting collectable for those having an interest in postal history or just an unusual decorative item for re-purposing.
Dimensions approx. 255mm x 147mm x 80mm (max)
